Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department to spend Rs 1,000 Cr to upgrade Tourism
Andhra Pradesh as the most desirable round-the-year tourist destination
in the country," Chandana Khan, Special Chief Secretary to the Andhra
Pradesh Government (Tourism and Archaeology) and Chairman and Managing
Director, APTDC said.
The programme is supported by the Tourism Ministry, which has already sanctioned Rs 221 crore. Besides, the state is also expecting investment to the tune of Rs 58 crore for new projects. The
programme involves building coastal corridors along the
Vizag-Bheemunipatnam sea front and Vizag-Vizianagaram- Srikakulam
Regional circuit with Rs 175 crore investment, and eight new beach
properties in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, West Godavari,
Prakasam and Nellore districts.
The state is focusing on the development of new and unexplored
destinations and weaning the tourists from the already popular
destinations like Tirupati and Hyderabad.
The laying of tracks on the metro rail viaduct in the city will begin
next month and the first metro train will run on March 23, 2015 .
This in spite of several issues concerning the identification of underground utilities and right of way on the dense corridors of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd (LTMRHL) chief executive officer VB Gadgil said on Friday.
Foundation-laying and pier construction have been completed for distances of 28 km and 20 km respectively and an amount of Rs 750 crore has been drawn from the loan for the work. Gadgil is confident that the falling value of rupee is not much of a concern in the procurement of material and technologies
